    As long as our artistic work based or influenced by others’ work(s) is well defined in its purpose and scope as well as properly acknowledged, endless , creative, innovative proposals can be developed, opening new insights, new frameworks, and, as Roger wrote once, providing ‘a new lease of life’.

    However, this chain of related names and works has to appear as part of the new expression, the new version, the new ‘thing’. So I agree with the opinion that we shouldn´t need to trace the originals. They should be there, as part of the new event.

    Every student of 20th century music knows Pierrot Lunaire, one of the iconic masterpieces of 20th century music.  If you are reading this and you don’t know it, go away and check it out and I’ll catch you later.

    Pierre Boulez, when asked to name the two most important pieces of modern music, had no hesitation in citing Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire op 21.  The influence of Pierrot was huge – even Stravinsky had to admit its importance.

    You owe me 500 swedish crowns. On my 50 birthhday i made a wish to my partner I want most of all Ulysses read on naxos 4CD set. And so I got it. It was not cheap, about 100$. I have read the book already, it was my favourite literary work (along with "In a search of..." by Proust). I found it extremely funny, intellgent, enjoyable. So I opened the box and put disc into cd player... Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck...it was the one of the greatest disappointments in my life. It was many years ago, but I´m still pissed of when thinking of it. An butcher, on the cd cover going by the name of Roger Marsh, cut of all my favourite pieces, callin it "abridgement. It was like if someone has plocked away all raisins off the cake, or painted over Giocondas smile. Im sorry, I think Roger Marsh is an incompetent person and not should be allowed to work with books, especially good boks, as he has ambitions to improve a good book to make it better. By the way, you owe me 100 bucks. I tried to get the money back from the book store, but they for some reasons refused.

    Thanks for the education. I couldn't believe that someone as wild as the English Translation of Schoenberg's 21 stanzas shows me of Giraud that he was some poet. Again, he postmoderns the fashionable moderns. I keep him on my list of books to acquire now that he been collected. Paul

    Nice to read. Been busy for a few days with a Dutch translation of Schönbergs piece. Discovered also the beauty of Giraud, but it's hard to match it in the music. A bit more rhyming feels like a bore one the music, but internal rhyme works fine. In Dutch we have a lot of German-like words, but also a lot of problem-giving differences, for example 'meinem' is 'mijn' like mine. I hate the trend of sticking to the original language, while the rest is free at will, and I guess there will be already a director busy planning La Bohème into a Covid19 drama. Vocal-Music should be without a language-barrier, especially something like this. Succes Jan Rot, Rotterdam.

    Thanks for this Federico. It's good to see the Blog page in action again! This is an amazing project. I hope you will get feedback from anyone who takes on the challenge of downloading your software and replicating the process with their own archive. I'd have to go back to school to even begin to understand how I would do that, and before you offer - no thanks. But if others do, it would be interesting to hear about their results. Maybe you can update us with another blog at a later stage? As for 'Midlockdown' - thanks for sharing it. Unlike you, I haven't been in the slightest bit bored since confinement back in March; lucky I guess. And I have always struggled with mammoth pieces. I've got a mind like a fly. But I have dipped into all the tracks so generously provided here for free, and hit on some great things. Great that you will emerge from Lockdown with a memento like this! Pura vida, mae!
