Composition Seminar – Eddie Parker: Debussy Mirrored: Evolution of a Project

Debussy Mirrored: Evolution of a Project

I always say you don’t have to be an expert on Debussy to enjoy this music, but if music students want to be “inside the curve” for the concert, they could familiarise themselves with the originals: “Les Collines d’Anacapri”, “La Puerto del Vino”, Preludes Book 1 + 2, “Little Shepherd” from Children’s Corner, “Soirees dans Grenade” and “Jardins Sous la Pluie” from Estampes, “La Boite a Jou Jou” (I prefer Bavouzet’s piano version of this), also the songs: “De Soir” from Proses Lyriques, “La Chevelure” from Chansons de Bilitis, “Eventail” from 3 Poems de Stephane Mallarme, and “Clair de Lune” from Fetes Gallantes Book 1.
