Contemporary Piano Series – Alex Wilson and Joseph Houston

Stockhausen and Ligeti: composers rooted in the heart of the European experimental tradition who have influenced, shaped, inspired and stretched musical boundaries.  Works by these composers are combined here in a programme of immense power and intensity from one of the UK’s most dynamic new piano duos.  York music graduates Joseph Houston and Alex Wilson come together to perform Stockhausen’s climactic masterpiece Mantra alongside Ligeti’s minimalist Three Pieces for Two Pianos.  The third in our series of Contemporary Piano concerts promises an evening of pulsating excitement and exploration.
