Dominic Floyd

PhD Composition

Dominic completed his BMus at Edinburgh University under Peter Nelson and Nigel Osborne. After further studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Willem Jeths, he undertook a Masters degree at Royal Holloway with Mark Bowden and Helen Grime. In 2016 he was composer in residence at Royal Holloway’s celebrated picture gallery.

His music has been played by various ensembles including the Asko/Schoenberg ensemble, the Britten Sinfonia, the Contemporary Consort and CHROMA. As a pianist he is a keen performer of new work as well as the music of neglected British composers of the early 20th century.  His current research concerns various aspects of harmonic practise in contemporary music.

Dominic is supported by a WRoCAH scholarship.
