Oliver Pickup
PhD Composition
Oliver studied for both BA and MA at the University of York specialising in Composition and studying with John Stringer
Much of Oliver’s work focuses on the use of performer placement and sound localisation as a primary factor in the compositional process for acoustic and electro-acoustic chamber ensembles.
As a conductor, Oliver has premiered new works by several York composers, and is Musical Director for the University of York Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s Spring 2018 production of ‘The Mikado’.
