Stefano Gioffré -PhD


Stefano was born in Palmi (Italy). After graduating in Composition at Conservatorio S. Cecilia of Rome under the tutelage of Francesco Telli, he attended the Composition courses of Salvatore Sciarrino at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, and the Composition courses of Detlev Müller-Siemens at MDW (Vienna). In 2016 Stefano graduated top of the postgraduate program in composition “Postgradualer Universitätslehrgang für Dirigieren, Komposition” at the Kunstuniversität Graz, under the tutelage of Beat Furrer.

Stefano’s works have been performed by ensembles and soloists such as the Prometeo String Quartet, Samuele Telari, and the Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble, and broadcasted by  radio networks such as Rai Radio 3.

Stefano’s research interests focus on the relationship between composers’ languages (poetics) and audience’s understanding of contemporary music (aesthetics).
